Part of the intentionality we're focused on in making our journey become your journey too, means crafting purpose behind each overnight lodging property we have. On today's blog, you can read all about each of our lodging spaces and how they can be applied to what staying with #TheWell means for you.
The Word “well” is biblically symbolic of a thriving #community. People built their homes, farms, and their families centered around a well. Water is the very source of life. Without it, we die. With it, we live, we grow, we plant, we harvest, we create, etc...
Wells also served as gathering places, facilitating important encounters and negotiations. They were often settings for significant events, symbolizing life, prosperity, and provision! For those reasons, we chose to name each of our lodging spaces after significant wells in the Bible.
The Lakehouse--> Jacob's House: “Where Living Water Flows”
Jacob’s well is known as a remarkable meeting place. This encounter led to a profound dialogue about living water. The woman at the well, while initially focused on physical thirst, was enlightened by Jesus regarding a different kind of thirst. A spiritual thirst that only Jesus could quench. Jacob’s well serves as a reminder that God meets us in unexpected places, extending an invitation to a deeper spiritual communion.
The Duplex --> Isaac’s House: “Virtuous Persistence”
Isaac’s resolve to dig deeper signifies the importance of persistence even when faced with obstacles. His choice to not retaliate despite the Philistines repeated hostility teaches us the wisdom of peace over conflict. Isaac’s unwavering faith led to God’s provision of water. When faced with challenges, his determination to dig deeper, to choose peace over retaliation and his steadfast faith amidst adversity serves as wellsprings of wisdom in demonstrating the power of persistence.
The Single Cabin --> Hagar's House: "A Symbol of Hope"
In the Bible, Hagar’s well embodies the promise of salvation and deliverance. An Egyptian slave who found herself on the brink of despair experienced God’s divine intervention and thus, this well signifies ongoing sustenance and care. Hagar was a woman of great strength and determination. Her well stands as a beacon of hope in times of despair, a testament to the belief that God’s intervention can transform hopeless situations.
The Small House--> Harod's House: "Overcoming Adversity"
We find Harod’s well at the center of Gideon’s victory, an event that showcases divine intervention and the triumph of faith over fear. The well of Harod stands as a symbol of divine selection and God’s ability to use the least to achieve the greatest. Gideon’s strategy guided by divine wisdom resulted in victory that echoed God’s promise to Israel. Harod’s significance extended beyond Gideon’s victory.
This well is known as a place where God’s power was demonstrated through Gideon’s strategy, the fear and trembling of Gideon’s army was transformed into fearless resolve and the faith of a small group of men overcame the might of a vast army.
Our prayer is that whether you're staying at The Well for a #corporate, #marriage, men's/women's #retreat, for a weekend of family fun, or coming to hunt, that you would discover purpose and meaning in your lodging! This is our way of recognizing that the Lord is in the details of every aspect in life.
We can't wait to share this place with you!
